‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 4, episode 4 preview: Ashley Benson gets some ‘Face Time’

So how will Hanna Marin recover from the truth that her mother is up to some very shady stuff? Rather than throw her under the bus in a world where many characters live permanently under the bus, she is instead choosing to stand firmly behind her, with a promise to keep her secrets (which should be pretty easy to do, given that she does not even know what the secrets that she is keeping really are).

The promo below is for next week’s “Pretty Little Liars” episode entitled “Face Time,” which we really want to believe is about all of the characters spending time with those delightfully-terrible masks that we just found out more about tonight. We know that Ali and Melissa have some that are out there, but are they the only ones? What we can say right now is that Melissa and Spencer are going to have another “heart to heart” on the subject of what Spencer’s planning for the future, and it can’t end well given that Torrey DeVitto no longer has that long hair she used to hide all of those secrets under.

Ultimately, Ashley Benson and Troian Bellisario, still likely reeling from the end of season 3, are going to get a chance to do some great work here, and the only thing that frustrates us here is ABC Family continuing to waste nearly half of their promo time on their social-media integration, which seems to be figured out by how much Twitter explodes every time a new episode is on.

“Holbrook’s partner, Lt. Tanner, comes to town, intensifying their investigation into the Liars and their possible connection to Wilden’s death. Emily panics when her parents come under undue scrutiny due to A’s manipulations. Hanna bristles when Caleb tries to help her through her this latest crisis, and tries to shift the focus of the police investigation. And Toby finds a new source of information into his mothers death, but it only leads to more questions. Meanwhile Aria has an uncomfortable encounter while out with Jake, and Spencer lays a trap for Melissa.”
