‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Michael C. Hall on his character’s mortality
What we want to spend the textual portion of this “Dexter” article talking about is the issue of the lead character’s own mortality: Is it possible for Mr. Morgan to survive the show, both physically and emotionally? If he does make it out alive, we can’t imagine that it will without some sort of great loss. Comeuppance comes for even the best antiheroes out there, so it will surely come for Dexter in some form.
Hall seems to agree with this notion somewhat, telling TV Guide the following about the possible fate of his long-popular character in a new interview:
“Can Dexter survive? Well, he’s certainly a survivor. But there are a lot of cracks in the edifice he’s created for himself. He can’t survive forever in the context we’ve seen him in. Something’s got to give.”
That something could mean his life, but it could also mean something along the lines of his job, his freedom, his sister, or even his son. Someone will suffer on this series moving forward towards the endgame, and it is not just the person sitting on Dexter’s table. Remember, there are fates out there far worse than death.
Just in case you have another hour of your life that you want to spend today listening to someone talk about all things “Dexter,” the interview here featuring Jimmy Smits is a very great listen if you want some insight into the world of Miguel Prado.
