ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3: Kerry Washington’s advice for Olivia Pope
Could Olivia Pope handle some aspects of her life a little bit better? This is one of those questions that you really don’t need much of an answer to, since you really know the answer is “yes”. Kerry Washington’s character on “Scandal” is fiercely intelligent, strong and independent, but also insecure and messy in some aspects of her life. Namely, we’re talking about Fitz. Loving a married man, especially one that has to constantly debate between his heart and his career, is not the smartest move, but we don’t choose who we fall in love with.
Maybe it’s for this reason that Washington thinks that her character could need a little bit of help, and we especially see it moving into a third season where the public has learned about her secret. Speaking to TVLine in an article geared mostly about the Emmys (which we think she is deserving of a nomination from, by the way), she explained just what sort of advice she would give her character if handed the opportunity:
“I might refer her to a couple great therapists. [Laughs] I think Olivia does really well, but I wonder how things would be different if she had a really great shrink in her life. It would probably be a lot less interesting!”
Maybe Olivia will receive some sort of help early on in this season, but for whatever reason we have a sinking feeling that it will be from someone (possibly her father) who is not always the best person to seek advice from in this situation.
