‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Vanessa Lengies on possibility for Sugar appearance
For those of you who have missed out on the news over the past several weeks, Vanessa Lengies’ ABC pilot “Mixology” was picked up for series. This is great news for the actress, given that she now have a full-time series regular job. The bad news? It also means that we’ll be seeing a whole lot less of her on “Glee” season 5, at least following the very start of the season.
So why could she be open for the first few episodes of “Glee”? As the actress herself explains in a new interview with TVLine, it’s really all an issue of timing, helped likely by “Mixology” not actually coming back on the air until mid-season:
“Glee‘s going to start back at the end of July and Mixology starts filming the end of August, so there’s a window where Sugar can come back for a bit … Who knows what the schedule will look like later? It’s really not up to me. But if it was, I would love to do both. I love Glee so much. It’s such a fun opportunity for me to be crazy and weird.”
We assume that Sugar will at least remain part of the glee club at the start of the fall if at all possible, though Ryan Murphy may have to make changes down the road based on Lengies’ availability. Of course, the reality is that we see the show shifting somewhat after graduation this next time, meaning that at some point, there may not be much of a role left for Vanessa to play, anyway. We don’t know how old she is, and we assume the show will shift even further away from McKinley High.
As for the future of another “Glee” guest star in Samuel Larsen (who had a similar amount of screen time in season 4), it is also unclear at the moment. Stay tuned, and for now, be sure to visit the link here to read some other “Glee” scoop.
