NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Judith Hill gives post-show performance on ‘Tonight Show’
For her first TV performance since “The Voice,” Judith Hill decided to go big, and also keep her NBC synergy intact, by performing on the top-rated show on all of late-night (at least in total viewers): “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” In addition to that, she also had the rare opportunity as a singing-show contestant to actually perform something original, rather than just a cover of something she did while on the show.
The song that she chose for this particular show is “Desperation,” her single off of the soundtrack to her upcoming film “20 Feet From Stardom.” (You can pick up the song at this link.) If you loved her on the show, isn’t it an understatement to say that you loved her here? This was an opportunity to really see the sort of artist she is away from the competition format, which is very nice for those who were not familiar with her going into this season.
We think that there are still a number of people shocked by Judith’s elimination, especially when you consider that the entire show has practically become a country-music hoedown in the past week or so. Even though Holly Tucker is now gone, three of the five remaining acts are still country artists. For those curious about the road ahead, be sure to check out our coverage all weekend long … including contestant rankings.
What did you think about Judith’s performance on the show? If you want to also check out some more news on the success of “The Voice” season 3 champion Cassadee Pope, all you have to do is click here.
For those looking for a video of Judith’s performance, we’ll hopefully have one in the morning. Stay tuned. Update: You can now watch it at the end of the video.

@disqus_rS4w2WJSOe:disqus I totally agree with your comments re music business. People judge her and her constantly before actually watching her rehearsal pieces on the voice and prior interviews. She cried when Adam asked her to sing ‘the way you make me feel’ and even after her performance when everyone was cheering her on she struggled to hold the tears back. She adores MJ. She has worked really hard away from the spotlight on charitable causes such as AVON for women and Japan victim’s relief. All her songs carry the message of support, strength, love and perseverance.
Its people’s ignorant and judgmental comments that made us the general public miss out on hearing her incredible voice sooner. She’s shy, humble, mega talented and beautiful. She was chosen by MJ for a reason. Needless to say im a huge fan of Judith and will continue to root for her, she deserves every success she gets.

Judith Hill has a voice that can go from sexy low registers to ultra high perfect pitched notes. Her’s is a rare talent. I only hope that she finds that final answer as to why she is not a major superstar dive already.

It is an interesting question. She is also an excellent writer and arranger. She may have to forge a unique path in a business that says it likes uniqueness but doesn’t always support it.

that’s odd. Her last song has now sold more on itunes than her audition song.
