Jimmy Fallon, Bruce Jenner engage in (very) awkward interview
We’ve loved Jimmy Fallon for quite a long time, but it has always been fair to say that his skills as a sketch performer and writer have always been stronger than his work as an interviewer. However, we have to say that in the interview below, the guy didn’t get much of a chance to speak at all.
This chat featured Fallon with someone who has actually been a hilarious thorn in his side for a little while now: Kardashian family patriarch Bruce Jenner. The “drama” (if you can call it that) first began last summer, when the late-night host openly mocked Jenner’s face during a series of jokes on his show. Bruce found out about it, and then at the Summer Olympics last year, Jimmy claimed that Bruce approached him and angrily demanded to stop making fun of his face. Fallon has told this story a number of times ever since, but the two had not had much of a heart-to-heart about it … at least until now.
Last night, Jenner completely took over his interview with Fallon at just about every turn, and did everything from mock Fallon using bad photos of him to sharing his side of the story which was that he first saw the jokes at a time in Germany when he was desperate for some sort of American humor, and his outburst at him came following a long period of anguish. The two did at least manage to clear the air, though, and Bruce said that he has a thick skin and can take the jokes. Then again, we also have to wonder why he was so upset about this in the first place, even to the point where he spent his entire interview talking about it.
