‘Downton Abbey’ season 4 spoilers: Laura Carmichael and a Rolling Stones tale gone mad
Are the Rolling Stones really going to appear on “Downton Abbey” season 4 … or any other season, for that matter? The answer here is a pretty clear “no.” The media hoopla that has exploded over this story over the past 24 hours is mostly the result of people wanting to see the legendary rock group in the world of Edwardian England, plus at least a few members of the band is a rather big fan of the hit series.
Speaking in a new interview, series star Laura Carmichael explained that apparently, her co-star in Hugh Bonneville has spent some time as of late with Ronnie Wood of the group, and that there has been a pretty fun bond that formed there as a result:
“Hugh has been hanging out with Ronnie and they have been having a great time. They met doing charity work and Ronnie told Hugh how much they loved Downton.
“Apparently they were stopping rehearsals on Sunday nights in time to get back to watch it … When Sybil passed away, Mick [Jagger] said to Ronnie [Wood], ‘Sad to hear about the girl.’ Ronnie replied, ‘I haven’t seen it yet — I recorded it.'”
As for where the “Rolling Stones want on the show” rumor came from, we assume that it was a byproduct of the mere fact that Hugh apparently tried to talk with the guys playfully about being on the show. In reality, this would never happen for a number of reasons, with the primary reason being that, as with Diddy and all of the other celebrities “rumored” to be on the show, they don’t want to cast based on a random stunt to draw viewers and distract from the world the producers have created in any way.
