NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5: Dan Harmon still yet to see most-recent timeline
There are so many interesting wrinkles when it comes to Dan Harmon rejoining “Community” after a year on the bench, with one of the most interesting ones being that the man has not even seen the show’s fourth season just yet. Despite constant buzz all year round, headlines, and probably fans telling him to watch it at every single Harmontown event, the show creator has somehow managed to steer clear of checking out something that had to be akin to a painful memory.
However, there is some good news coming out now: Dan will be watching it soon. At an event at the Silent Movie Theatre recently, he said that not only will he be watching the season soon, but he even thought about recording his reactions to the episodes as a way of selling season 4 DVDs. If you think here in terms of quality, these 13 episodes are probably the show’s darkest timeline. There are some episodes (particularly near the end) that are actually pretty good, but you have to sit through some pretty terrible ones (mainly the first four) in order to get there.
One of the biggest challenges for Harmon, who has yet to start writing any scripts, is going to be figuring out what to do with the episodes that he was not involved with. Do you continue to present a story in the same canon, or try to fiddle around with the story that has been presented to viewers over the past 12 hours. If there’s one thing that is wonderful about Harmon (and frightening to network executives), it is that this is a man completely unafraid of playing around with form in order to suit his needs.
What do you think Harmon should do with a “Community” season 5? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and you can also head on over to the link here if you want to read more when it comes to the official announcement of his return to the series.

Make Season 4 all a bad dream, like that Dallas season. Then redo the fourth year of college.

Season 4 managed to ruin the timeline idea and paint ball in a single episode.

Introduce a new main character, develop relationships amongst characters, play Chang into a more serious role and probably shift the plot to a new dimension (I.e. away from the “study room”).
