‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: The story-breaking process begins
Just when you think that it is time for all people associated with “The Vampire Diaries” to start relaxing for a little while, it’s right back to work for some of the hardest-working (and yet often ignored) people in the TV industry: The writers. They have had a little off to vacation or rest up since following the end of production, but it looks at least some of them are already crafting some season 5 plots … at least according to the show’s executive producer.
If you go on over to Julie Plec’s Twitter, you can see what is effectively the big board for the new season, which includes all sorts of information from the episode’s writer to the director, shooting dates, production notes, and more. It’s pretty standard operating procedure for a writers’ room to organize things in such a way, that way things are relatively neat and organized.
So what’s the need to start getting the overall story together now? The answer is simple: Production on season 5 will be here before you know it; specifically, we are looking at less than two months. This is not really that much time to get a season set and to start having full drafts ready for production, especially when you consider that many cable shows (see “Homeland”) actually start their process a few months earlier.
Of course, we also have a feeling that Plec and the writers have already gone over general ideas for the upcoming season based on what happened in the finale, so they are not going in completely blind here.
Are you thrilled to see production already starting off? We want to hear your thoughts below! Also, be sure to head on over to the link here if you want to read even more news on Ian Somerhalder’s recent Teen Choice Awards nomination.
