‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5: Ian Somerhalder hints at attending Teen Choice Awards

Earlier this week, we teased that Ian Somerhalder was the leading candidate to win the Teen Choice Award in the category of Choice TV: Fantasy / Sci-Fi actor against such people as his “Vampire Diaries” co-star Paul Wesley and “Supernatural’s” Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.

So is Ian planning to walk away with the trophy? It is too easy and much to arrogant to say that, but the actor is definitely making it clear that he currently plans to be in attendance at the Fox awards show on August 11. In a new post on his Twitter account, Ian finally acknowledged his nomination for the first time, and came about as close to confirming he will be at the show if he can:

“THANK YOU TEENS! BTW-I guess I’ve been living under a rock!Just found out you nominated me! THANK YOU! Love you all-see you in LA this summer!”

“The Vampire Diaries” has long held a pretty tight stranglehold over the TCAs, with many of its stars already having famous surfboards in their name. The show has one of the most-passionate voting blocks of any show on TV right now, and there is also the benefit of it being a truly global program, as evidenced by the fact that Ian’s under-the-rock behavior is spurred in part by him having spent the past several weeks traveling across Europe and meeting fans. He is now in the United Kingdom, where he will be spending some time working on a project before returning to America soon.
