‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: The Roy Harper debate
What in the world will become of Roy Harper? What is interesting about the situation mapped out during the “Arrow” season 1 finale was that he is a character at a crossroads. He could end up being a character that crosses over to the bright side as Speedy and fighting alongside Oliver Queen, or he could take a completely different direction. The beauty in the finale is that while we saw Colton Haynes’ character make some heroic moves, we don’t think there was really enough movement one way or another.
So was this intentional? It sure sounds like it. Just take a look at what executive producer Marc Guggenheim had to say on the character’s story arc as a part of a new interview with TV Guide:
“One of the fun elements is what I call the comic book destinies for each of the characters and seeing how much they’ll follow those destinies and how much they’ll deviate … As we’ve probably shown a couple times in Season 1, we like to be unpredictable.”
There clearly are some liberties already that Guggenheim has taken in regards to the Arrow anthology. For example, just take a look at what happened to Tommy, or how some of the villains have been treated. In some cases, this is infuriating; however, we can’t really be too critical in this case, given that the series has never tried to be a perfect re-creation of what the DC Comic has done over the past several decades.

Agreed. Who would be a good actress to portray her?
