‘Big Brother 15’ spoilers: ‘After Dark’ moves to TV Guide Network from Showtime
There is a pretty substantial change coming up to “Big Brother 15,” at least when it comes to the “After Dark” show that presents updates straight from the show’s live feed.
It was announced on Wednesday that beginning with the June 26 premiere, the series is going to start airing installments of “After Dark” on the TV Guide Network, which CBS recently purchased a 50% stake in. This is clearly a move for corporate synergy, and an attempt to get the show away from Showtime, which really wasn’t much of a good match for anyone.
We know that there are some people out there genuinely upset over this move, and we get it. Reality TV fans don’t like change, and you already have the live feeds shifting over to CBS.com after they have spent almost the entire series hanging out over to Real.com’s SuperPass service. The big issue is that we don’t know whether or not the biggest component of the “After Dark” programming, i.e. the swearing, is going to suddenly be cut out. It’s also possible that Big Brother itself could warn the houseguests against using bad language, which does almost take away the point of having a show named “After Dark” in the first place. It’s supposed to be seedy!
As someone who never really watched “Big Brother After Dark”, we can’t say we will really miss it on Showtime. However, we do feel bad for people who were already paying for the premium channel, and don’t get TV Guide Network on their cable packages. Our suggestion? Go purchase the live feeds! It may be expensive to drop $30, but at the same time, you were probably paying around that much for three hours of Showtime, anyway.
