NBC’s ‘The Voice’ rankings: Still between Michelle Chamuel, Danielle Bradbery
Can you believe that we are down to just six artists left on “The Voice”, and these are the six artists that are left? Unfortunately, Judith Hill learned right now that Justin Bieber’s music is repellent for any voters that are not his fans, even if it is really a will.i.am song. Meanwhile, we had yet another reminder that Blake Shelton’s fans are just about the most-passionate of all time, and will do anything in an effort to please their idol … including making the entire top 6 into a hoedown with Michelle Chamuel and Sasha Allen serving as the only reprieve.
We can’t say that we love the lack of genre parity, but it’s the voters’ fault for really giving us much of the same thing with almost every performance. We’ll be ranking based, as always, on performance quality, iTunes sales history, and, as always important with Blake, the size of a coach’s voting block.
6. Sasha Allen (last week: 7) – The best thing that Sasha really has going for her is that she is extremely talented as a vocalist, and she can pull herself into contention with any given performance. Her flaw, unfortunately, is that her performances don’t sell very well online. We actually thought she would be gone by now, but Shakira’s fans clearly are voting for her through and through.
5. Holly Tucker (5) – We do genuinely think that Holly is going to be gone from this show before the finale, mostly because we don’t see Blake getting a clean sweep. She is very good at what she does, but eventually we do see some sort of anti-Blake movement happening just to allow other contestants to have some sort of shot at least of making it into the finale.
4. Amber Carrington (8) – Amber’s been all over the board this season. Her take on “Skyfall” was stellar, and this is what we judge in putting her here. The biggest issue left, though, is the risk of her getting lost in a giant country shuffle, especially when her coach is not someone who sings country music himself.
3. The Swon Brothers (3) – If they want any hope at winning, they need another huge moment like they had with the George Jones tribute. Otherwise, they are at this point just getting ready to settle for finishing in third place versus two people who have consistently been warriors in the fan vote.
2. Michelle Chamuel (2) – Our personal favorite, mostly because she connects perhaps to the widest demographic of people. She can sing very well, but there is also that unspoken emotional connection that she excels at. What also really helps her is that she brings out a really sweet side to Usher, one that we typically do not see with that intense exterior.
1. Danielle Bradbery (1) – We get why Danielle is so popular. She’s young, a natural performer, and has a great coach in Blake. She also will probably sell more records than any winner of this show to date. Do we wish that she would take a few more chances? Sure, but Blake seems to know exactly what he’s doing with her, and we had the same complaint about Scotty McCreery on “American Idol” a few years back, and he turned out just fine.

Danielle should generate enough itune sales to push her over Michelle. It is not so much the performance in the final. It is the overall accumulative effect. Even her grandpa almost made it to the top 10 when voting closed. Another more challenging song will certainly do her the honour. Michelle need to pick ip on the itune sales.

My rule when I listen to these people is.. would I ever buy a song they recorded. Michelle is the most unique of the group. She is someone who offers something different than just the same ol’ same ol’. Sure the country singers are all nice to listen to, but do any of them really offer something you haven’t heard a million times already? I mean really.

Michelle is like scores of other Pop singers, and her voice is not at all distinctive……………. Danielle, on the other hand, can sing the phone book in country and Taylor Swift-style country pop, and beyond………. and no matter what she is singing, it is fresh (she makes old songs new)………. she will be a big time super star……… Michelle, at best, will be a so-so average pop singer……..

Danielle has a great voice a la Carrie Underwood, but the only thing really unique about her sound is that it is coming from a 16 year old.. She WILL be a success, but the idea that she has a unique voice is not at all accurate IMO.. Michelle’s independent music – which is not radio pop and which she mostly wrote, performed, and produced entirely on her own, is already unique and interesting and her voice was rightfully being described as unique, velvety, and smooth in np reviews of her band long before this season of the Voice ever started. In any case, I respect BOTH of them and wish them both the best of luck. There is plenty of room in the music world for both of them – thank God! – and their future success will depend on far more variables than which, if either, wins The Voice. What I really wish is that grown people old enough to be their parents wouldn’t be putting down 1 to put up the other. ALL the finalists are vey talented vocalists.
