‘Britain’s Got Talent’ rankings: Aaron Crow, Arisxandra Libantino, Phillip Green face off

Britain's Got TalentWe now have the first official lineup for Monday’s “Britain’s Got Talent” live show, and it looks to be quite good. The vast majority of the acts featured here are actually pretty interesting, and while there are a few that we think have no shot whatsoever of making it through to the final, there is only one that we consider to be an absolute dud and a waste of time.

Rather than just telling you who these contestants are, we’re going to continue something that we started up last year which is telling you where they all stand. We’re mostly considering talent (in our rankings), but you also have to take into consideration that some contestants have been edited more than others.

Semifinal 1 Rankings

9. Martin Healy – This guy danced with a broom in his audition, and is really only here because Simon Cowell was too ill to be at the table and smack some sense into the others. This will only be entertaining to those of you who like watching a man embarrass himself on live TV (and watching Simon implode).

8. Youth Creation – It’s great to see kids staying in shape and learning to love dance. But if there’s one thing that always turns us off, it is watching any dance crew with more than ten members. You like to at least be able to recognize some of the individual personalities, since otherwise it looks like a jumbled mess on the stage.

7. Bosom Buddies – A fun act of drag singers, but there’s little chance that they will be the act to perform in front of the Queen. They have to really deliver the performance of their lives to justify all of the ridiculousness, and to be honest we’re not quite sure that it will happen.

6. J-Unity – These boys are saddled somewhat thanks to being in a category that already has so many great singers. We think that they will be good, but we also have a feeling that they will also probably be overshadowed.

5. Philip Green – This may be a case of an impressionist peaking too soon. If you were actually able to grade him solely on his impressions, it would be about a B, but his energy brought him up to an A-. It will be hard to repeat this energy, since the element of surprise is gone. Now, he must rely just on the impressions.

4. Band of Voices – Still hate the name. Love the talent though, since it really mixes together everything that you would want to hear from an acapella vocal group with just a few members. If they make it fun, they have a real shot at advancing.

3. Richard & Adam – Singers with an operatic sound tend to do very well on these shows, and the twist of them being brothers makes them even bigger threats. We’re still not sold on them being the best rappers the show has ever had, but there is little questioning that they are pretty darn good.

2. Aaron Crow – We love magicians and people who do crazy things that look like they could die while doing them. Aaron did both in his audition, so we’re a little partial to him. Plus, it feels almost like it’s time that Britain really has someone win this show who does something completely different. Haven’t there been enough singers and dancers? (Yes, we know a dog act won last year.)

1. Arisxandra Libantino – We still have a near-impossible time pronouncing or even spelling her name, but everyone remembers her well from fans nearly breaking Twitter after her audition on the show. A huge voice packed into a tiny package, and as close to a lock to advance from this round as one can be.
