Mariah Carey’s first post-‘American Idol’ TV gig contains cursing, dress popping off

Just over a week after ending this season on “American Idol,” Mariah Carey had an opportunity to really go out and shine during a concert appearance on “Good Morning America” on Friday. What happened? Well we all know that she can sing, but the rest of the show was a little questionable.

First of all, Mariah managed to make a major TV faux pas, and dropped the s-bomb at one point during the live interview. Sadly, we don’t have a video for that, but the singer let the curse word fall while Miguel, her collaborator for the song “Beautiful,” was introduced to the audience. It’s somewhat surprising that out of all the people in the world to get in trouble for cursing on TV, it would be someone who literally just spent several weeks of her life as a part of a live judging panel.

What we do have video for below is something that is much more embarrassing from a wardrobe point of view. While in the middle of the interview portion of the show, part of Carey’s dress pops off on the back, and someone from her style team has to rush in to keep it together. Being that she has a talented entourage, she managed to keep everything important covered up.

The funny thing here is that now, Mariah and Nicki Minaj really do have something else in common. As you may remember back before the two joined “American Idol,” Minaj had a wardrobe malfunction of her own during a “GMA” concert appearance,  though with the front of her dress rather than the back.

Carey has not been confirmed to be leaving “American Idol” after only one season on the show, but producers are reportedly in talks with Jennifer Hudson already, with the idea of an all-alumni panel being considered.
