‘Game of Thrones’ season 3, a ridiculous story, and why Emilia Clarke is in the clear
There are so many weird things worth pointing out about the following “Game of Thrones” story, that there is admittedly a major part of us that does not even know where to start with it. Why is an actress on the show speaking out about other actresses not being willing to disrobe? Not only that, why is this suddenly an issue? Isn’t the objectification of bodies on this show enough of a problem already?
Before we delve too much deeper here, let’s try to lay down at least some of the facts. The woman who stirred up controversy is Oona Chaplin, who plays Robb Stark’s wife Talisa on the show. In a brief interview with the Telegraph, she made a bold suggestion that unlike her, there is someone on the show right now who is holding a certain reluctance to disrobe for key scenes:
“One of the girls in the show who got her [dress] off the most in the first couple of seasons now doesn’t at all because she said, ‘I want to be known for my acting not for my breasts’.”
The only thing more surprising than an actor calling out another actor on a show for not undressing enough is the press then someone deciding to take it upon themselves to claim that this woman is Emilia Clarke, who is one of the show’s principal stars as Danaerys Targeryan.
Is it true that most of Clarke’s racier scenes were in the first season? Sure, but there’s no real way that her story justified being disrobed during season 2, or for most of season 3. The problem with this whole argument was that there was a racy scene featuring her this past episode, and she also routinely disrobes for the Broadway adaptation of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” While we’re sure that she, like any other serious actor or actress, wants to be known for more than her body, she doesn’t seem to have any problem at all with it.
We know that Chaplin made her comments before Sunday night’s episode aired, but still, this was a somewhat strange comment to see someone make. Why not just worry about what you’re doing as an actress instead of taking shots at someone else? We don’t think any actor is going to join “Game of Thrones” without feeling comfortable with showing … well, pretty much everything.

I just read about this and I’m really surprised no one else on the internet seems to think it’s weird one actress is choosing to gossip about another actress’s choice to the press. Geez, just focus on yourself. It’s great if you enjoy it but if she no longer feels comfortable, how about a little professionalism? It’s not like the show is lacking in boobage anyway.
