‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Matt Smith adopts a new look … for now
Who is ready to see a completely different side of “Doctor Who”? Well, you’re going to have the opportunity to do so now with some of the good news being that the change is only temporary, and should not impact the way you see the beloved character at all when production for the eighth season really starts to get going.
Matt Smith was in New York City last night alongside his co-star Jenna-Louise Coleman and showrunner Steven Moffat as the latter was the recipient of an International Peabody Award for his work of showing innovation and being cutting-edge in the world of television technology. It’s quite an honor for anyone to receive such an award, especially an executive producer given how often they are ignored when it comes to all of the “flashy” awards that are out there.
For Matt, what was the most surprising part of the event was simply showing off his newly-shaved head, which he has done in order to film the upcoming movie “How To Catch a Monster.” This project marks the directorial debut of Ryan Gosling, and stands out simply for that reason (if nothing else).
While the show has already done work on their upcoming 50th anniversary special, Smith has confirmed that he will return for an eighth season, which will begin filming a little later this year prior to airing on BBC One and BBC America early next year. (There is also a Christmas special coming up, but that is hardly a surprise given how traditional they have become.)
