‘Doctor Who’ season 7: An inside look at finale; John Hurt reveal draws social traffic
There are a couple of new “Doctor Who” stories worth sharing pertaining to “The Name of the Doctor” today, but since they are both relatively small in comparison to what we have to share to this point, we’re condensing them into one article for for your convenience.
Let us begin first and foremost with a video look behind the scenes, which gives a pretty good insight into some of the components of the episode itself. Does anyone else find it somewhat jarring to see the actors speaking out about some of their work while still in costume? If you are like us, then odds are that the answer for you is “definitely.” It’s still some fun insight nonetheless, though nobody really dishes any spoilers on the final episode or the upcoming season 8.
As for the other news about the finale, it’s really all about the numbers, specifically just how incredible they were in the social media sphere. In what is pretty amazing news, “Doctor Who” was the top trending show anywhere on TV, with an activity score of nearly 200,000. To put this in perspective, “Game of Thrones” was the only other show on TV to post over half of that score, and that includes finales for such shows as “Castle,” “Scandal” (a major hit on Twitter), and the long-publicized series finale of “The Office.”
Much of this traffic was probably fueled by the John Hurt reveal at the episode’s end, which through our own metrics has clearly been the most-active source of debate here on the site since Saturday evening. We anticipate the show keeping this sort of popularity going for at least a few more months, until at least the 50th Anniversary Special airs on TV in November.
