ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Kerry Washington talks Joe Morton stunner
If you thought that the world of “Scandal” was complicated before, just you wait, because it’s about to explode all over the place in season 3. Based on the shocker at the end of the finale that the mysterious Rowan (Joe Morton) is actually Olivia’s father, there is going to be some serious explaining as to what the relationship between these two people is really like. We like to imagine that it takes a very specific sort of person to want to do some of the things that Olivia has over the past two seasons, and maybe her past with her father is a big part of that.
When it comes to Kerry Washington, she certainly has no problem speaking her mind on it. In an interview with The Huffington Post, the actress wasted almost no time in detailing her excitement to be working with someone in Joe Morton who has such a lengthy resume in television already:
“When we read it, we were just really blown away. What’s funny is that the writers do that to us every week and then we pay it forward [to the audience].
“…When Joe Morton walked in the room for the very first episode that he appeared in, I almost had a heart attack, because I grew up in a household where Joe Morton is a great American hero. He is the first guest star that we’ve had that I literally called home about.”
Now, Washington better be ready to spend a good bit of time with him on set. While there’s no word on whether or not he will become a series regular, you have to believe that Morton’s role in the first few episodes of the season is going to be pretty darn pronounced. Who knows? Maybe he can help to get her out of the current mess that she is in revolving the leak about her affair.
We’re not done being “Scandal”-ous yet. If you want to read even more news on the aftermath to this Olivia situation, all you have to do is check out our new story over at the link here.
