‘Doctor Who’ season 7 finale spoilers: Matt Smith, Steven Moffat talk game-changer
Even though it would be easy for “Doctor Who” executive producer Steven Moffat to rest somewhat on the laurels that have already been created for the series, you have to give him some credit right now. After all, he is clearly not doing that in the slightest.
Instead, the showrunner is plotting something with Saturday’s “The Name of the Doctor” that will serve as a seismic shift for the series forever. Nothing will be entirely the same for our leading man, or the current companion Clara, by the time the episode airs. Not only that, but we will have an opportunity to learn a few surprising things about both The Doctor and his “Impossible Girl.”
Specifically, here is what Moffat had to say on the subject of this electric and mind-bending hour of TV:
“[It will] change the course of Who forever … It’s full of surprises and questions that have never been answered in the history of Who, including the Doctor’s greatest secret.”
Meanwhile, The Doctor himself in Matt Smith chose to look at the episode in much simpler terms in how this episode will give audiences everything that they want, and then also a little something extra:
“I think throughout this season, we’re building up to the revelation in the last episode – and then it kicks us on somewhere else.”
Save for those people who had the opportunity to see the episode early in what is a massive snafu by the BBC, everything about the episode has been kept under heavy lock and key, with the exception of a few videos that we have. What do you want to see transpire?

SEASON. ENDER. 26 unicorns DIPPED IN GOLD pranced across my lawn and then stomped my face in their HOLY SPARKLY RAINBOW POO OF JOY last night, upon the watching of this singularly epic episode. Moffat and Smithykins, sweethearts, I know you’ll never see this message, but you gave us everything we wanted, and then some. For me and my friends all over the globe, THIS season adn especially this episode, THE NAME OF THE DOCTOR, has been penultimate Who, something we haven’t seen in a very many long years. And as an American fan, I salute you, Brigadier style. You came, you saw, you conquered. Please please never leave. Until you’re ready, that is. Healthy psychology and all that.
