‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: An origin story, death, and Harry’s code

Just what sort of situation are we about to see Dexter Morgan in? Without giving too much away here, it’s pretty safe to say that it’ll be a dangerous one. “Dexter” season 8 is the end of an era, and the opportunity to finally learn just where the story will end. Will it be in death? We cannot say for sure just yet when it comes to Dexter, but it will be for someone (though this can hardly be considered much of a surprise at all).

Showtime has released a brand-new short synopsis, and despite this only taking about five or six seconds to read, it really reveals much more than almost anything that we have seen or heard from the new season thus far:

“The end begins for Dexter in a climactic new season. After meeting the psychiatrist who helped create Harry’s code, Dexter must confront his own dark origins. Only one thing is certain: somebody is going to meet their maker.”

This psychiatrist is played by Charlotte Rampling, whose casting was revealed much earlier in the spring. What we, and probably every other “Dexter” fan in the universe wants to know is this: How much about his secret does this woman know? Harry obviously had to reveal quite a bit in confidence with her, and this could put her in an extremely compromising situation. She will know that Dexter is a very dark man with a set of rules unlike any other human being on earth, but she will be forced to clam up about it to anyone who asks.

Rampling is far from the only guest-star who will be stopping by, as the list includes Yvonne Strahovski (again), Sean Patrick Flanery of “Boondock Saints,” and a mystery man, who you can read a little bit more about over here.
