ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 2 finale spoilers: Emily, Victoria, and the battle of the scowls
Watching every conversation between Emily Thorne and Victoria Grayson on “Revenge” is basically the same thing as watching one of those weird acts on “America’s Got Talent” where someone tries to plunge a sword down their throat. It’s exciting to watch, but at the very end you find yourself sitting there, pondering to yourself whether watching it really got you anywhere at all.
There is a formula for a great Emily – Victoria conversation: The two look very unhappy to be there, making their McKayla Mulroney “not impressed” face with their words rather than their expressions. They each vaguely threaten each other, rarely ever take direct action against the other, and they both ultimately go along their way.
This time around, at least in the latest sneak peek for Sunday’s finale “Truth,” Victoria may have finally found a way to win the vocal stalemate: By saying something that Emily wants to hear: That when the chips fall, the two are really more alike than either would want to admit. It is like a child who despises a bully growing up, and then later their friend tells them that they and the bully are one of the same. This is a-smashing-a-picture-frame-with-your-heel sort of statement, and were this show an edition of “The Real Housewives,” the cameramen would have to rush in to keep the two parties restrained.
While Emily seems to respond well to the statement in the clip, who knows how long that will last? If we had to answer, our guess would be “probably not too long at all.” This show is called “Revenge,” not “sit around and maybe do something later.”
This finale is going to be a series of one terrible circumstance for Emily after the next. After all, she is also primed to find the body of her trainer / traitor Takeda.
