‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 finale spoilers: Colin O’Donoghue on Hook’s story
Even before “Once Upon a Time” season 2 first began, we were teased back at Comic-Con with the idea of Captain Hook entering Storybrooke. This was enough to send some fans into hyperventilating hysteria, so just imagine what finding out some more of his back-story could do on Sunday night’s “And Straight on ‘Til Morning.” It is the end of a chapter for the series, and the beginning of a new one that will hopefully have a more cohesive storyline throughout.
First of all, it goes almost without saying that Hook and Neverland will each play a major part in this chapter, and Colin O’Donoghue tells TVLine that we will understand more of who this nefarious pirate is, and what happened to him while on that island to make him so bent on revenge. (Wouldn’t it be awesome if it was the exact same thing that happened to Oliver Queen on the island in “Arrow”?)
In shifting gears to Storybrooke, Hook has spent some time in cahoots recently with Greg and Tamara, who has been the sort of clenched fist / maniacal laugh super-villains as of late with their plans to take magic away from the world. We still have no clue if it will work, but O’Donoghue says that it is probably a mistake to believe that he will stay loyal to them:
“Hook is always out for himself, for the most part, so as long as Greg and Tamara can in some way get him to where he wants to be or help him out in his quest get revenge on Rumpelstiltskin or whatever it is, he’ll keep with it. But it’s not lost on Hook that he needs to make sure that he looks out for No. 1. He’s not particularly loyal to any one person — and certainly not Tamara and Greg, because they certainly go about their business in a bad way.”
We know that there are plenty of Hook / Emma shippers out there (or “Captain Emma,” as we prefer to call them), but we do have to mention what it is about this idea that we find to be especially icky: Hook basically hooked (rim shot) up with Baelfire’s mother, which makes this whole arrangement rather awkward, right? We’re just waiting to see if this ever comes up while a young Baelfire is onboard Hook’s ship.
