‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Clearly, Saul’s going to have a larger role now
Take the following as a not-so-subtle hunt that “Homeland” season 3 is going to end up becoming Saul’s story more so than anything that we have seen thus faron the Showtime masterpiece: Two characters rather close to him (at least to a certain degree) are going to have a far greater place in the series moving forward.
Hitfix first reported this week that F. Murray Abraham and Sarita Choudhury have each been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming handful of episodes, which helps to fill the voice left by the myriad of actors (including David Negahban and Diego Klattenhoff) who are no longer a part of the show in the same capacity (though the latter could still recur).
Abraham’s character of Dar Adal almost seems perfect for a Liam Neeson movie: He’s a former black ops specialist who we could see Saul bringing back to the forefront, especially when you consider the simple fact that the vast majority of top agents at the moment are dead. (Still reeling from that, no?) Meanwhile, Choundhury’s character is of Saul’s estranged wife Mira, and she holds what may be an answer to the show’s primary conundrum: Who in the world managed to ever have some sort of extensive relationship with Saul? The man seems to be a brick wall when it comes to emotion.
“Homeland” season 3 kicks off production (otherwise known as the time the set turns into Area 51) this month in North Carolina, and the premiere date is set for Sunday, September 30. We’ll probably get the opportunity to find out a few more details and episode titles along the way, but we won’t be posting any significant plot spoilers out of fear that Showtime will send Brody back from exile to hunt us down.
