ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 finale spoilers: Nathan Fillion to see another ‘Chuck’ alum

Nathan FillionAny person who has stepped into the CarterMatt universe is probably well aware of the fact that we are giant fans of the TV show “Chuck.” If there was a real-life Buy More, you would likely find us in there at least once a day buying gadgets. Heck, we’d even eat at that frozen yogurt store that served as the cover for their spy base, and we don’t even find yogurt to be particularly tasty.

Now, for some irony: Chuck’s spy hideaway was called Castle, and now have have some “Chuck”-related scoop on the ABC show of the same name. According to TVLine, Mekenna Melvin, who we fondly remember as Morgan’s love interest / John Casey’s daughter Alex on the NBC cult favorite, will be appearing during the season finale of “Castle” on Monday. Her role? Talia McTeague, a Harvard student who had some sort of bond with the victim of the Week.

As awesome as it would be, we have a hard time believing that Melvin on this show will start dating the nerdy friend of the main character, mostly because Castle doesn’t seem to really have many actual friends save for the folks at the force, and none of them would know Jeffster from a bicycle tire. What is interesting is that this is the second “Chuck” alum to stop by in the past two years, as John Casey himself in Adam Baldwin played the ruthless and awesomely-named Detective Slaughter in an episode last year. In turn, this presented all “Firefly” fans a chance to salivate over seeing him and Nathan Fillion together on the same screen again.

Who knows? Considering Fillion’s massive geek army, maybe the show will find a way to rope in the likes of Zachary Levi, Scott Krinsky, or Yvonne Strahovski in for a gig. After all, they now have two full seasons to work with thanks to a mega-renewal earlier this week.

Update: As one of our commenters pointed out, Bonita Fredericy (General Beckman) also had a small speaking part.
