‘Glee’ season 4 song spoilers: Jessica Sanchez performs Zedd’s ‘Clarity’
One of the ways that “Glee” has excelled over the years is finding a way to showcase songs that are up and coming, whether it be “We Are Young” (which was here before anywhere else) or even “Next To Me” from earlier this season. They tried to do something very similar with A Great Big World’s “This Is the New Year” earlier this winter, and while that didn’t take off, we still liked the song.
This time around, Thursday night’s finale is going to feature a song that is starting to climb up more than just the dance charts: Zedd’s “Clarity” featuring Foxes. When we first heard that Jessica Sanchez’s Frida Romero was going to be performing this song at Regionals, our first thought was “what in the world is this song?”. Zedd, Foxes, and the tune itself were completely unknown to us. However, since that time we’ve probably listened to this song a few dozen times, and it was smart from Ryan Murphy and “Glee’s” music team to pick up on this song before it was even starting to ascend the charts.
In comparing the “Glee” version to the original, we have to admit that the two songs are really more or less the same. The only real difference is that Sanchez’s voice is pitched slightly lower than the singer on the original, and there may be a heavier base line on the original song than the “Glee” version. The similar sound here was likely a deliberate move, that way there would be a throng of people waiting in line to buy the original version.
What do you think of this “Glee” cover, and do you think this will help “Clarity” become a hit? If you want to see some more content from the “Glee” finale courtesy of Chris Colfer and Darren Criss, be sure to hit up the link here.

I loved when Glee performed This Is the New Year by A Great Big World that is such a great song. The original lyric video for it is so cute – http://smarturl.it/GBWNewYear

With respect for the original performer, I will not compare and say who is better. Both performances are great and deserves the listener’s applaud.
