‘Game of Thrones’ season 3, episode 7 preview: ‘The Bear and the Maiden Fair’
Every season, A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin chooses to pen an episode of “Game of Thrones,” and on this occasion, it just happens to be the installment airing next week entitled “The Bear and the Maiden Fair.”
Like with last season’s Martin-penned episode “Blackwater,” this is going to be a big one when it comes to the story. We don’t want to spoil anything major, but let us just say that the title is going to have a particularly significant role in what transpires here. We will see the return of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys after an episode off, and there will be much more storytelling that comes to us courtesy of Jaime and Brienne and Theon Greyjoy. Jon Snow is going to confront the very man that tried to leave him for dead, Sansa Stark will have to continue facing the harsh reality that she has now been promised to marry a man that she does not want to be with, and Arya Stark continues to hold quite an interesting position on religion.
The scariest thing about this episode is merely how little of the season there is left. By the time this hour ends, there will be just three more to go before we are left to sit around and wait for the show to come back on next year. This really is a testament to everyone involved here when it comes to how continuously strong the product is. We are almost always entertained, even with the story-lines that are less exciting than what is going on at King’s Landing.
