Ratings: ‘Nikita’ season 3 continues to cloud its renewal effort
While The CW has seemingly renewed already the vast majority of the shows that it intends to, the jury is still out when it comes to a series that has developed a pretty devoted fan following: “Nikita.” For almost all of the spring, the general assumption was that the show was going to be brought back thanks in part to the speculation concerning syndication that traditionally comes around after the 88-episode plateau is reached.
However, recent reports say that the network is considering an 8-10 episode final season, suggesting that they are really not looking at syndication as a major factor, and are more interested in just giving fans the ending they deserve.
At this point, we should just be happy that the show could have an ending at all, since for the second straight week, “Nikita” registered just a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Even for Friday nights, this is a pretty miserable rating, and this is why the show is in a predicament to begin with.
Do we expect for the pickup to still happen? Yes, since there would not be so many reports about if it was not under some sort of consideration. However, this may be a down-to-the-wire negotiation as The CW has to figure out where to put the show based on how many new pilots that they end up picking up when the network upfront presentation occurs in May.
What do you think: Are the latest “Nikita” ratings very bad news, or do you still think that the season 4 renewal will happen? If you want to read even more news on this subject, you can do so over at the link here. We’ll of course have more on the future of the show moving forward.

Season one was on Thursday, then to Friday after, and neither day has been a success in the ratings…

This is proof only about 1 million people have any idea what a great show looks like. It’s sad that so many ignorant viewers would rather watch some unrealistic crap by JJ Abrams then such a well acted, directed and produced show like Nikita.
