‘Bones’ season 9 spoilers: Emily Deschanel on what may be left open

Where in the world will “Bones” go beyond this season? With the announcement earlier this year that the Fox mystery series would be receiving a ninth collection of new episodes, the writers were given enough notice in order to really start planning out what they wanted their exact story to be for Monday night’s finale. It is in many ways a delicate balancing act, as it is important to give audiences a sense of closure, but at the same time prepare for the potential to unveil some big stories during season 9. This means that every string cannot be tied together into a bow.

In speaking about the finale to TV Guide, Emily Deschanel in particular alludes to the fact that there are still going to be some mysteries that exist beyond this episode, even when it comes to the show’s most-notorious villain out there in Pelant:

“There’s huge things that happen, but there’s a lot left to question for Season 9 … Some questions are answered, but there are still lots of questions, especially about Pelant.”

Perhaps the biggest answer you can expect to receive during the finale have specifically to do with what could be happening with the Booth / Bones relationship. Engagement will be a hot topic of conversation, and even if there is no question popped, we should at least have some progress.
