‘Hart of Dixie’ season 3, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 2 ordered by The CW
As it turns out, this Friday is quickly becoming national renewal day. You may have heard the news earlier that NBC ordered additional seasons of many of its hit dramas, and we’re now hearing that The CW has also picked up a pair of its fan favorites.
Ultimately, these two renewals were expected to happen. While “Hart of Dixie” is not a monster in the ratings by any means, it does hold its own better than any other show the network has on either Monday or Tuesday night. In addition to that, it is also a relatively inexpensive show to make in comparison to some of the effects-heavy dramas, and it does not require an enormous amount of promotion to draw its numbers. With these factors in mind, it’s hard to have your jaw hit the floor in shock over the show returning for another season, even if it is reason for you to temporarily do a happy dance. It’s the sort fun slice of TV pie that you wish there was more of.
Meanwhile, “Beauty and the Beast” season 2 is also now official. While there were some questions about whether or not it was holding on to enough of its lead-in audience from “The Vampire Diaries,” the show can boast that its ratings have been reasonably steady almost all spring, which is something that not many shows are able to pull off. This means that maybe there are enough independent viewers here that the show will succeed, even if it is moved to another time slot.
What is your reaction to this renewal news? As always, be sure to share your thoughts below! If you’re a big-time “Hart of Dixie” fan, you can also visit the link here to watch a promo for Tuesday night’s new episode.
