ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 2, episode 20 preview: Will Mellie destroy Fitz?

After weeks upon weeks of waiting, “Scandal” returned to ABC last night with an all-new episode that certainly provided its fair share of game-changing moments. Not only did we end up seeing some rather devastating back-story that gives us a far greater understanding as to who Huck truly is, but we also had the opportunity to see Mellie make her biggest move yet when it comes to her relationship with Fitz. At the tail end of the episode, she gave him an ultimatum to end all ultimatums: Either stand behind his family, or she will blow the lid upon all his wrongdoings in a public press conference.

So with this treat in mind, do you think that the character would really be in a hurry to try to fix things? If you said yes to this, you couldn’t be any more wrong. Instead, Fitz is still doing everything that he can to get Olivia Pope to be with him, even to the point where he risks everything that he holds dear in his career.

This is where things get a little bit more interesting. In the video below, you can see Fitz’s continued commitment to Olivia, just as you can also see Cyrus making a rather interesting offer to Mellie that he can help her to “take care” of Olivia, whatever this means. If he is anywhere near the same sort of fixer that Olivia is, though, we can assume that this only means trouble for Kerry Washington’s leading lady.
