‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Who will we see more of?

As we near the end for “Dexter” after eight seasons on the air, Showtime appears to be doing just about everything in their power to ensure that they have all of the actors that they need in order to wrap the show up properly.

With that it mind, it only seems appropriate that we have the following news to share. According to show site Dexter Daily, Geoff Pierson has been upped to series regular for his role as Matthews. He played boss to Maria LaGuerta on some of the earlier seasons of the show, and when she started to have suspicions as to whether or not Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher, she used him as a sounding board to explain some of her concerns. While he did try to investigate her claims to the best of his ability, all he found instead was more evidence that Doakes was the guilty party.

So what role could he have on the series moving forward? You have to leave open the possibility that he could return to the force rather than stay retired, as he surely will find something suspicious of the fact that LaGuerta was killed off following a long string of paranoia about Dexter. He may also not be the only person to express some suspicion of our leading man, as Batista was also aware of just what LaGuerta was trying to pull near the end of last season.

With this news, there is one thing that we can pretty much guarantee: Dexter is in for an even harder time this coming season than he initially thought.  What do you think about this news?
