‘New Girl’ season 2 spoilers: Who’s primed for a celebration?

It seems like it has been a while since we’ve been able to present some “New Girl” season 2 scoop, with one of the primary reasons for that being that the show has been off the air for a few weeks. Sadly, the waiting is going to continue for at least one more week, as the show is not set to officially return to Fox with “Virgins” until a week from tomorrow.

However, we do have some early news now on the episode that is going to follow that up. “Winston’s Birthday” should serve as an opportunity to have a pretty good story for the character, and even if you are a not a big Winston fan, there is still going to be enough other good stuff happening with Nick and Jess that you will have reasons to smile:

“Jess’ dad (guest star Rob Reiner) chooses the worst day to pay the loft an unexpected visit, forcing a nervous Nick to spend the day alone with him. Jess finds herself with huge opportunity for a new job on the day before Cece’s wedding. Schmidt must take a look in the mirror and confront his real feelings about Elizabeth. Meanwhile, Winston psyches himself up for his huge surprise birthday celebration, which no one seemed to remember to throw for him.”

The only thing that makes us sad about this press release is that despite mentioning the name Elizabeth, there is no guarantee at this given moment that Merritt Wever is going to return. We’re still pulling for more from her though as she brought out such a fun, different energy from Schmidt.
