‘The Following’ episode 14 preview: The path to the finale

The FollowingIf you are ready for your heart to figuratively start beating out of its chest a little bit, you really don’t have to look any further than the video below. After all, this gives us our first bit of insight into what is the penultimate episode of “The Following” this season, and an episode that is going to alter almost the entire course of the series moving forward to its final hour of the next several months (and likely for 2013, unless Fox decides to shift things around with their fall schedule).

At this point in time, Joe Carroll has to be well aware of the fact that he is going to lose this war; then again, couldn’t you make the argument that he always knew that? There is only so long that you can go on being a terror to everyone in the country without getting caught, and the point for him seems more to be about trying to go down with the greatest amount of carnage imaginable. After all, there really is no other way to even explain what you are going to see in the video below.

Just in case that carnage is for whatever reason not enough for you, be sure to also read the foll synopsis her from Fox:

“Ryan, Parker and Weston prepare to storm the mansion unaware that Joe has set an escape plan in motion; disguised followers create a diversion at the town evacuation center.”

With there only being one episode left before the finale, let’s hope that the endgame here starts to become a little clear. As brilliant as James Purefoy is in this part, can you really have another year of this same exact thing? This is an issue that we saw “Homeland” run into with the Brody – Abu Nazir storyline, and they found a way to make the show so that there was enough that changed, but also enough that kept the show familiar for the future. Let’s hope that Fox pulls off something similar here.
