NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 4 preview: Midas Whale, Patrick Dodd battle it out

The VoiceThe battle rounds are going to continue Monday night on “The Voice,” and in the video below, you can take a look at one of the rare battles that we have featuring a group against a solo artist.

The two contenders here are Midas Whale and Patrick Dodd, and while we mean this as no disrespect to Patrick (who has a pretty great voice), Adam Levine’s folk duo is superficially the more interesting of the contenders. This is a pair that features former “American Idol” star Jon Peter Lewis, and whether it be their look or their sound, they actually have more of a chance at going further than almost any duo in the show’s history. The challenge for them is going to be finding a way to advance through a round that has tripped up so many groups in the past.

We don’t know who came up with this arrangement for “Burning Love,” but it feels almost like a hoedown. It yields well to all of the voices, and the three competitors move along the stage pretty well while Adam looks on like a kid in a candy store. We do legitimately think that Midas Whale will make it through this round, and if they get in front of the voters, they are unique enough to actually have a chance if they find songs that suit their voices. As for Patrick, he always has a shot at the steal even if he loses out here.

Who are you rooting for in this duel, and do you think either one of these two acts has a shot at winning “The Voice” season 4? If you want to also check out a cool new performance with contestants Judith Hill and Karina Iglesias, be sure to visit the link here.
