‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: The difference between Dex and Deb (video)
It’s great for Dexter Morgan that he can put blinders on his emotions, even to the point that not even killing people can keep him from going about his day-to-day business. However, if there is one thing that we learn above all else from the latest promo for the Showtime drama’s upcoming final season, it is that his sister Deb is completely incapable of doing the same thing.
In the video below (which you can see via Entertainment Weekly), you can see quite a heap of new footage for “Dexter” leading up to its June 30 premiere, and while some of this has already been unveiled in other trailers (including Deb saying that she “shot the wrong person” in that storage container), there is also some new footage in here. You have an opportunity to better see some new characters, and there is a very clear visual allusion to Hannah McKay via the orchid that she left Michael C. Hall’s leading man prior to her exit at the end of season 7.
The most powerful moment (at least from the standpoint of the editors) comes when Deb says that she can never really be like him. This is definitely a painful thing to watch, as it shows a certain level of cognizance on her part that while she has not necessarily created a monster in her brother, she has enabled him to the point where he has almost created one out of her. Rather than accepting this role, though, she is more interested in trying to hide away from it and also the world.
Do you want there to be a “Dexter” spin-off focusing on Deb or any of the other characters? If your answer here is “yes,” then you have to check out the story over at this link for answers.
