‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Emilie de Ravin talks Lacey’s origin
So where in the world does “Lacey” come from? We’ll find out the answer to that question on Sunday night’s “Once Upon a Time” season 2 episode. Ever since we first learned that Emilie de Ravin’s Belle was going to have another identity in Storybrooke, this has been a question on the lips of many fans. She was not someone who had really any memory at all as to who she was back when we first saw her last season, but as soon as the curse was broken, she was suddenly Belle again.
Well, we’re now lucky enough to actually have some sort of official answer on whether or not we are going to learn anymore about the character. Speaking as a part of a new interview with TVLine, de Ravin explains that we are really going to have a certain Evil Queen to blame for her character’s sudden transformation into a free-spirited woman with no interest at all in bending to Rumpelstiltskin’s will:
“Belle was never implanted with a Storybrooke memory, since she was locked away for 28 years and it was not necessary to give her one, so to mess with Mr. Gold, as per usual, Regina says she will give me my memory back but gives me “Lacey” instead.”
The actress also promises that there will be some “Rumbelle” moments in the hour that should make fans of the couple rather excited, but the unfortunate news to go along with that is that she does not elaborate as to whether or not these moments will be good or bad. She is at least excited about the challenge of trying a different role, and it should make for some interesting dynamics.
Of course, there is more going on in this episode than just Lacey in present-day Storybrooke. If you haven’t caught the sneak peek yet detailing what is happening with Belle and Rumple in Fairytale Land, you can check that out here!
