‘Shark Tank’ preview: Stella Valle looks to sell jewelry with a message

On Friday night, “Shark Tank” returns as we near the end of its fourth season, and the product being pitched in our preview today is something that looks to combine elegance with empowerment, and also a story to boot.

You don’t get to see much of it in the preview video below save for Kevin O’Leary repeating his “I only care about money” shtick, but the product here is known as Stella Valle, and it is a jewelry brand created by Ashley Jung and Paige Dellavalle that combines elegance with empowerment, and also a pretty interesting story. These two sisters were United States Army Officers, so they have been through and seen a little bit more than the average person has. These products are meant to make women feel strong and with purpose, and we have to given them some serious credit: their website is beautiful and put together better than most of what we see from previous products on this show.

As a man who also is not much of a jewelry fanatic, we’re not entirely qualified to sit here and say whether or not their product is actually something that consumers will like. It is at least affordable, though, and we could see it catching on. What will obviously make or break these ladies in the tank are the intangibles that we don’t know anything about right now, including their net sales, their evaluation, and what they are looking to get out of the sharks. It’s also going to be tough for them given that jewelry is an extremely competitive business, and while they have a good story, there’s nothing particularly proprietary about what they do that they can patent away.
