‘American Idol’ top 5 results: Did Janelle Arthur, Kree Harrison last another week?
Going into this week’s “American Idol” episode, we were fairly confident that there was going to be at least one instance over the next two weeks where no contestant ended up going home. What was the reason for that? It’s ultimately rather simple: the show needs to save someone so that there are enough weeks for it to last all the way until May 16; otherwise, we’re ending early, and Fox surely doesn’t want that from a ratings perspective.
Early on this week, it did actually feel that the non-elimination round was the way in which the show was heading. It was largely an hour stuffed with positivity, a return performance from both Clay Aiken and Fantasia, and also Jimmy Iovine making comments that he can smartly articulate thanks to the power of editing.
It was clear near the end that the save was in play, and the major stunner of the episode was that Kree Harrison was actually in danger. Less surprising was that Janelle Arthur had the lowest number of votes, and her performance of “You Keep Me Hanging On” was clearly enough to make her worthy of the save … right? Wrong! The save is still in play, which means that now, we’re going to be seeing quite a bit more of this top 4 moving forward.
At the end of the day, we do like the crop of contestants left, and while we wish that the judges were actually worthy of them at times, we should be in for an interesting competition (especially when we get around the top three). It still feels like Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, and Angie Miller are the favorites to go further, and maybe end up winning the whole thing.
We also want to say that wasn’t this “Idol Update” segment pretty awesome? We liked seeing what has happened to LaToya London, one of the three divas alongside Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson from the show’s third season. Oh, and Fantasia completely tore the roof off of the place.

I think the judges and jimmy iovine have too much influence on swaying the voting public. Wonder what the votes would have been without them voicing what they thought. They wouldn’t be pushing for.one person over another would they? Hum, or maybe they would. Stop it judges!!!!!
