Does ABC’s ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ pilot have yet another new title?
For whatever reason, ABC just can’t figure out what in the world it wants to call its upcoming series with Marvel about S.H.I.E.L.D., the crime-fighting organization that has appeared in so many recent movies including “The Avengers.” Then, in following this up the title for the pilot quickly ended up becoming “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,” which is certainly a little bit of a mouthful when you try to say it out loud.
Now, it appears as though the title has once again changed. According to the show’s official Facebook page, the title is now “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”. Does this sound a little bit better? Sure, and it may end up being the best title that we end up getting for the show. At the end of the day, the biggest problem that the show runs into it is sounding just like the Shawn Ryan hit on FX that aired several years ago … which was amazing, but also a completely different sort of show than what we have here.
While “S.H.I.E.L.D.” (whatever its name is) has not been picked up as a series yet, you still have to be pretty optimistic right now when it comes to its odds. After all, this is an enormously-successful property, and while the pilot has been kept under a heavy lock and key, there are still a number of reasons to believe that the show itself is going to be very successful. This is a risk definitely worth taking.
Hopefully, we will hear even more scoop about the show (and its chances of succeeding) in the weeks and months ahead.
