‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: New Jennifer Carpenter teaser confirms final season
“Dexter” fans, it’s finally official: we are near the tail end of our serial killer’s journey. While there has been some debate behind-the-scenes about whether or not the Showtime franchise could be extended to a ninth season, based largely in part to some of the show’s strong ratings this past fall, the new official teaser from Showtime confirms that this summer will in fact be the final twelve episodes for the Michael C. Hall show.
So with this feeling of finality now upon us, what are we going to see? The video below is constituted solely of one scene, where it appears as though Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) is starting to completely lose it. She claims to be “undercover” when Dexter confronts her in what looks like a convenience store, but she argues that she is not only doing fine, but he needs to promptly go away in order to not compromise what she is working on. The problem is that everything that she is doing here is not exactly sanctioned by work, and there are many within that camp who are worried. She did not show up to LaGuerta’s funeral, and Dexter is even worried about her being in a physical relationship with a questionable figure.
The whole culmination of this scene comes with just a few simple words, as Deb admits to her brother that she “hates” him for making her compromise everything important about herself, and feels as though she should have killed him instead of LaGuerta on that fateful day in the shipping container. We think that this certainly cannot make the man feel very good about himself, even though she has every reason in the world to hate him for some of what he did.
Do you think “Dexter” is smart to end things this summer, or should Showtime have tried harder to stretch it to one more season? (Warning: there is strong language in the video below, but this is Deb, so go figure.)
