‘Arrow’ spoilers: The episode leading up to the finale is about…

The CW sent out a deluge of press releases on Wednesday night, and many of them featured the penultimate episodes of a few of our favorite series. When it comes to “Arrow,” this meant presenting us with some scoop that features an epic showdown coming up between the Dark Archer and Oliver Queen’s own alter ego.

This episode is entitled “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” and the synopsis below gives you a pretty thorough explanation of what to expect, even more so than we ever could without having seen it yet:

“With the Undertaking days away, Malcolm (guest star John Barrowman) dons his black hood to conclude business with seismologist Dr. Brion Markov (guest star Eric Floyd) and his team. Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Moira (Susanna Thompson) entertain a number of surprise – and mostly unwelcome – visitors. Hooded confrontations at home and the Meryln Global Group reveal dark secrets. Meanwhile, Roy (guest star Colton Haynes) and Thea (Willa Holland) are still looking out for a hero. Laurel (Katie Cassidy) makes a decision after Tommy’s (Colin Donnell) revelation. In a flashback to the island, Oliver, Slade (guest star Manu Bennett) and Shado (guest star Celina Jade) struggle to prevent Fyers (guest star Sebastian Dunn) from shooting a Ferris Air jet out of the sky.”

One of the good things we know already just based on this synopsis alone (and the fact that Diggle will for sure appear) is that it looks as though all of the main characters are at least making it out alive… for now. As for the finale, that’s a little bit more of a mystery. All heroes end up going through sacrifices sometimes, and there could be a major one coming for Oliver as a result of his actions.
