TNT’s ‘Dallas’ season 3 spoilers: Patrick Duffy on chances; what we expect
Are we going to see a “Dallas” season 3? It almost seems painful to ask the question so quickly after the last season came to an end, but this is what we are looking to figure out now.
When you look at the ratings, the odds of the show returning are a toss-up at best. It fell pretty sharply from season 1, and there is also a pretty hefty cast that you have to pay for here. The show likely does fare well when it comes to DVR viewing, which may be a key indicator to TNT that there are a good many people still wanting to watch the show. The issue? It was scheduled this year in the winter rather than the summer, which helped it fare pretty well against a significantly smaller amount of competition.
So how does one of the stars feel? Speaking to TV Guide, Patrick Duffy said that he is keeping optimistic, and hopes that the quality of the work done will play some sort of role in the network’s decision:
“I’m optimistic about a season three … But only based on the fact that I don’t believe that the directors, writers and actors and that every other person involved in making Dallas could make a better television show called Dallas.”
If the show does continue, we have a feeling that one of the main focuses will be on Bobby moving forward without J.R., and what in the world is going to happen to John Ross and Pamela now that there were some more-than-questionable decisions made in the finale.
Do you think that a “Dallas” season 3 will happen, and if so, what do you want to see from it? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and you can check out some more news pertaining to the show’s finale over at the link here.

SEASON THREE MUST HAPPEN. As a diehard fan of the original and new Dallas, the writer’s have outdone themselves. Lots of twists and turns. I agree the original cast members must be there, and are now the matriarchs of the new Dallas. The tribute to Larry Hagman’s JR was just perfect. Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray are the cement for season three, and beyond. Just like in real life, you follow their characters through it all. Bring back, Luch, Ray, Val, Gary, most of all talk some sense into Victoria Principal, she needs to be back from the dead.

Please bring back Dallas for a 3rd season. I love the new Dallas almost as much as the original. I watched every episode the day it aired if possible. And if I had to work, I DVRd it and watched them as soon as I could. The fan base is absolutely there to support the show. Please bring it back!

I’ve been a die hard wrestling fan for years, until Dallas started back up, best show on tv period… In the words of J.R Ewing-blood is thicker than water but oil is thicker than both of them! Bring back for season 3 and beyond, it’s a dynasty!

Season 3 MUST be. I understand that JR is no longer with us (bless your heart Larry Hagman;) but Dallas is still strong on going. Reasons 1) Pamela still has not mentioned who the babies true father is! 2) Emma is becoming a strong character that could put a real ringer around her father’s neck (she realizes what he and grandmother has done to her. 3) What about Alayna, she moved out, but deep inside herself, she has something up her sleeve to prove her loyalty to Christopher, or maybe she turns to the dark side. Dallas has to continue!! PLEASE!!

Dallas is fab, I love it do not make the mistake of ending it, the storylines are fantastic, the end of season two was unmissable and leaves lots of possibilities for season three well done to the cast and writers.

Dallas must return for a season 3. The season 2 finale opened up too many doors for there not to be a season 3 to see what is behind some of them and to perhaps close them. 1. I would have preferred if JR had shot himself and not Bum. 2. Cliff Barnes is a billionaire and billionaires do not rot in prison, period. So he will get out somehow. 3. Elena coming after the Ewings makes sense. Some may not realize it but at every turn, when the Ramos family had something take away from them, a Ewing was involved. 4. Pamela Rebecca will reunite with her father Cliff when the frame-up over JR’s murder comes undone and John Ross’s infidelities come to light. 5. Finally, Anne should have died in the rig explosion and eventually Bobby and Sue Ellen should marry. Anne’s character is far too light in the britches and she has no real role on the show. It would be perfect that Bobby and Sue Ellen be married, with their respecive sons going at it. Now that would be a feud worth watching in and of itself.

I love dallas! I started watching the show last season and since have purchased the entire original series. It’s just like Patricia told Sue Ellen and JR John Ross is like his daddy. He can keep the skeeming up now that JR is gone. I really hope they don’t cancel. Go back to summers

Can’t agree more with all the above comments.Love seeing Sue Ellen push her weight around. She learnt from the best and so did John Ross. Did we really think he wasn’t going to mess around on his wife. Like father like son. I no longer have any thing to look forward to on tv now.

I agree Wednesday nights would be great especially when the football season starts(Monday night football) it would be hard to compete with football. I have LOVED the new DALLAS shows PLEASE bring the show back for a 3rd season. Having the show I’m sure helps the tourism as well so it helps our economy to the city & metroplex of DFW.

There MUST be a season 3! I can’t believe that they ARE even considering canceling. The last episode was hot … The last scene was even hotter – that it had me researching half the night looking for the song that was played at the end. Which was, by the way, The Maverick’s “Come Unto Me” from their new album. This show is just beginning … Josh Henderson cast as John Ross has been brilliant, and when he kicked his eyebrow up last night as he told Emma “Just don’t tell my wife”…..while the music kicked up in the background, I about melted…. And I wasn’t that into him before! Tell us fans what we have to do to keep Dallas on the air … Ive already started telling everyone who will listen to watch the reruns of this season because I know they’ll get addicted like I have! Dallas rocks!

Please, please bring on Season 3; the writers have done a phenominal job in continuing the Series from the original. I was impressed with how they put closure to J.R.; and that there was some sense of closure to Pam, Christopher’s mother. Pamela and John Ross have great chemistry; then there is that scheming Emma; loved how her character has evolved. I can’t believe that Cliff will rot in jail in Mexico either; then there is the whole land deal between J.R. and Elena’s family….good stuff going!

I hope the show continues for many, many years. We are glued to the tv when Dallas is on. Please bring it back for many seasons. We are so sorry that JR passed, but there are many great actors to carry on the show for years to come, especially Patrick Duffy & Linda Gray.

For the first time in a long time I look forward to a tv show. I loved dallas as a teenager and am loving it now as an adult. The writing is so great, I am on edge waiting to see what happens next. To me this is the best thing on tv! I hate the thought of it not coming back next season.

There has to be a season 3!!! This is just so good! The writers have done such a wonderful job of sticking to the original and the cast is fantastic! I love Josh Henderson as John Ross. If he isn’t a chip off the old block!! I think they did a wonderful send off for JR (and thus Larry Hagman) by having him responsible for Cliff sitting in a Mexican jail for his “murder”. I only wish Victoria Principal would reprise Pam. I would love to see her and Patrick Duffy together again. It brought a tear to my eyes when they hung JR’s picture at Ewing Energy like Jock’s was hung at Ewing Oil!

I hope there is a Season 3. I didn’t want it to be over last night. The writers are doing an excellent job! They keep you on the edge of your seat. I would never have figured out who was behind the killing of JR. Excellent writing! There are still unanswered questions thanks to last night. Cliff working from inside the prison, the Ewing land rights thanks to JR many years ago, John Ross becoming more like his daddy and so much more! I loved the first Dallas years ago, and this one is just as good. PLEASE bring Dallas back for Season 3!

I would like to see a complete closure on Pamela, Christopher’s mother. I would like to see Christopher pursue closure, and conduct a memorial service for her, and see who shows up! Why didn’t he ask where his mother is laid to rest?
