‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8, episode 21 review: Did Marshall and Lily move?
While most of this season of “How I Met Your Mother” has focused primarily on the characters of Ted, Barney, and Robin, we’re rather thrilled with the little bit of love that has come in the direction of Marshall and Lily. We saw Marshall’s dreams earlier this year in order to become a judge, and this week, Lily had a major career move of her own to make: moving to Italy in order to spend a year with The Captain in the art game.
Unfortunately, there were some problems keeping her from says yes to the gig. First, she was worried about uprooting Marshall and the prosperous career that he had going as an environmental lawyer … even though this “career” was really going nowhere with a firm that had no clients. Once she figured this out, her concern was that the life she had in New York would be gone. We thought that the move wasn’t going to happen before this episode, but now, it could be the best thing for them. They may be without their friends for a while, but it would be an opportunity to rediscover themselves in a new place, and make new memories.
As for the other storyline this week, it at least turned into something more than just a woman in a ridiculously large coat that Barney was curious about. As it turns out, this was the wedding planner that Robin hired, and it was someone who Ted was interested in. Is there going to be anything that comes of this? We don’t know just yet, but hopefully it will be something we learn a little bit more about in the couple of episodes ahead.
