‘The X Factor’ UK: Simon Cowell denies Noel Gallagher judging rumors
Despite the audition process kicking off already for “The X Factor” via cattle calls across Britain, there still is no firm judging panel in place. As of right now, the only things that we know for sure are this: there will be no Tulisa, Louis Walsh is almost asusred to back for more, and Noel Gallagher of Oasis fame is not going to be joining the panel.
The latter rumors started up again this week, but at the launch for “Britain’s Got Talent” this week, executive producer Simon Cowell denied this idea by saying the following about the notoriously-blunt rock star’s lack of interest in doing a singing competition:
“I don’t think he’d want to do it. I spoke to him once, but he wasn’t interested. But I like Noel, he’s a cool guy.”
Cowell later said that this conversation actually happened years ago, so who knows? It’s possible that the singer may have changed his mind over time.
Regardless, we believe that both Gary Barlow and Walsh will be back as judges, and Nicole Scherzinger will likely join them. All of this talk about her wanting to focus on her music career could be viewed as a smart negotiation ploy to make sure she gets the contract she deserves. Really, we see this as a deal both parties will want to get done: she was great on the British show last season, and the show also helps to keep her in the press.
As for that fourth judge’s position, the jury really is still out. It’s possible that we could just have a rotating panel of people a la what happened with Nicole last year, and Simon could make a decision down the road.
