‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 finale spoilers: What is Ted finishing off?

Over the past several weeks on “How I Met Your Mother” season 8, our lead and intrepid narrator Ted Mosby has proclaimed time and time again that he is ready to move forward in his life beyond just the dating game; he wants to settle down, and part of that for him is finding the right person to settle down with.

This episode is airing on Monday, May 13, and it suggests that we are going to be visiting a place that we really have not seen at all this season in the run-down house that Josh Radnor’s character once bought for his family:

“As the gang prepares to go to Robin and Barney’s wedding, Ted invites Lily to see the house he’s finally finished fixing up. Meanwhile, Robin and Barney’s night of relaxation is ruined by an obnoxious couple (Casey Wilson and Keegan-Michael Key), and Marshall takes the baby on a last-minute trip to Minnesota to see his family.”

We’re sure that you are wondering the answers to two questions at the moment based on this synopsis:

1. Are Barney and Robin not going to get married? Well, it is happening, but the show’s producers do need something to go on in the upcoming ninth season. The only real confusion here comes via chronology, since the show does typically run in real time.

2. Are we not going to learn who is the mother? Considering that we still expect this to be the last scene of the last episode, our vote is for “doubtful” on the mother front.
