‘Big Brother Canada’ review: One of the stranger Veto Competitions ever
We’re going to be back a little bit later in the night with some more thoughts on Wednesday night’s new episode of “Big Brother Canada,” but for now we just have to say this: wasn’t this one of the stranger Veto Competitions that we’ve ever seen?
For whatever reason, what was basically a memory game turned into a massive struggle when it comes to whether or not the houseguests even wanted to finish. So many people either don’t want to play the game right now, or are just overthinking things. What other explanation is there for Alec spontaneously quitting, except that he maybe feels bad for Peter being put up on the block against him? If that’s what he did, we’re sure that his Shield partner did not exactly appreciate it, even if he does have the power now to save himself from the next eviction.
The sad thing about Alec is that we once imagined him to be a pretty great player, but he’s had so many bad moves the last couple of weeks: getting rid of AJ, not really fighting for HoH this week, and now this. Methinks he may be a little too nice of a guy to play the sort of game that he wants.
As for who is not holding anything back in this game, how about Jillian? First, she tells Topaz she’ll protect both her and Alec if she wins HoH; then, she puts Alec on the block; then, she names Topaz the replacement nominee for Peter. She is playing the game hard, and we worry about how this will impact her jury performance in the end.
Oh, and we of course have to give one more shout-out to Marsha the Moose and her evil twin Marg this week. It’s really pretty hilarious that producers even thought of a good and evil moose, and it kind of makes us want to be in that production meeting.
What did you think about this “Big Brother Canada” episode, and are you bummed about the lack of effort during the Veto by some? If you want to read the latest happenings via the show’s live feed, you can check them out over here.

Alec and Peter should have kept the shield as a “secret” alliance. They should have both played on opposite sides of the house, which was what I thought they were going to do earlier in the season. Obviously everyone caught on pretty quickly that they were best buds and now look at where they are. Peter might be able to get passed next week but his chances of final 2 are highly unlikely.

I had high hopes for Alec as well and so this decision to quit the POV comp comes as a major disappointment. I think he was trying to protect Peter but to flat out quit? He would’ve won that comp and I’m comvinced the others could’ve been persuaded to keep Peter over Topaz. The Shield could’ve been really epic but alas…too many poor decisions on Alec’s part.

That veto comp is one that should have been completed successfully in less than five minutes. I was astounded by how poorly the house did. I cannot understand what Alec is trying to accomplish either.
