‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Bobby Moynihan tries to frighten Vince Vaughn
Have you missed Vince Vaughn? The one-time box office staple has drifted off of the radar in recent years, but this weekend he will be returning to “Saturday Night Live” for the first time in over a decade. We know the guy is quick on his feet and has good improv skills, so despite not having a hit film in a while, there is still the potential here to have a good show.
Luckily, the first promo for this weekend’s show is funny enough. Vaughn cracks a few jokes alongside cast member Bobby Moynihan, and we have a surprise appearance in here from Jay Pharoah, as well. Perhaps the best bit in the 90-second clip is when the lights go off inside of the control room, and the man behind Drunk Uncle makes a pretty surprising declaration.
The only real disadvantage that Vaughn faces with his gig this weekend is simple: he’s coming after one of the best “SNL” hosts in recent memory in Melissa McCarthy, who completely dominated almost every second that she was on the stage. But we know that Vaughn, too, can perform a variety of characters, and hopefully there will also be some great ideas and sketches brought to the table. (For whatever reason, we’re pulling this week for the return of The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party, mostly because Cecily Strong has become the best new cast member of the season.)
What do you think about this promo, and does Vaughn do a good job by your estimation delivering the laughs? If you want to read our review of this past “Saturday Night Live” episode, you can do so over at the link here.
