‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: Could Daryl Dixon fall in love?
Even though he may be a character specifically created for the “Walking Dead” TV show, it’s still hard to argue that Daryl Dixon may be one of the greatest creations of Robert Kirkman and his team yet. He’s a complex character who has routinely battled inner demons, and near the tail end of this past season, he had to do what is in many ways the unthinkable: kill his own brother, Merle, to protect all of the other people that he cares about.
So when is Daryl going to get a win, and by this, we mean finding a way to accomplish something more beyond just staying alive? A fan of Norman Reedus’ character recently asked Kirkman if Daryl could find love during season 4 in a Q&A session with fans on AMC’s official site, and the comic writer / executive producer responded with an answer that does very much suggest that there is a reason to have some hope moving forward:
“I think that it could happen eventually. I wouldn’t want to spoil anything, but Daryl is a complex character and he’s really got a lot of emotional hurdles to get over in his life. It is kind of odd that we haven’t seen him in that kind of romantic light, but I think that adds a layer to the character that makes him a little more mysterious and a little cooler. But I wouldn’t rule out some kind of love interest for him in the future.”
In other words, don’t necessarily expect love to be something that happens for Daryl at any point in the immediate future, but we could see a little bit more about this coming up down the road for him.
What do you think about the idea of Daryl being in love: would it work in the show for you, or do you prefer this character to be a lone wolf? If you want to read more of what Reedus himself has to say about the character, you can do so over at the link here.
