‘Dancing with the Stars 16’ scoop: Kellie Pickler, Derek Hough to perform special rumba
While we’re sure that just about every contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” wants to think each performance as a memorable experience, some are definitely more significant than others. When it comes to Kellie Pickler’s run on the show, we have a feeling that Monday night’s live episode may have her favorite dance of the entire season in it.
The country singer and former “American Idol” star revealed earlier today on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that she and Derek Hough are going to be performing the rumba, and the song that they will be doing it to is “Say I Do,” a wedding song written by her husband Kyle Jacobs. To make this all the more memorable, Kyle will actually be performing the song during the routine! We don’t know how Kellie is going to get through this without tearing up, but we have to say this: she’s definitely not going to be leaving the competition with this sort of angle in mind.
Ultimately, we’re sure that there are probably going to be a few cynics out there who claim that this is unfair in some way, and that Pickler should not be allowed to poke at the heartstrings of America and have a different person perform than the traditional “Dancing with the Stars” band. However, we look at it this way: the show wants ratings, and to have people talking about it to their friends. If another contestant came up with an idea like this, we have a feeling that the producers would be all over it like a chocoholic during the Cadbury Egg sale after Easter.
What do you think about Kellie getting the opportunity to do this? If you want to check out our full review of this past “Dancing with the Stars” results show, you can do so over at the link here.
